Remember that you can Fly WestJet and Save.

Colombian national airline Avianca has placed an order for up to 70 Airbus aircraft, the European planemaker said on Wednesday.

In a statement, Airbus said Avianca had placed a firm order for 38 planes -- 33 A319s/A320s and five A330-200s, and had options on a further 32 aircraft.

«With this order, Avianca will enter a new era in terms of advanced aircraft technology and passenger comfort», said German Efromovich, President of the Synergy Group which owns Avianca.

Avianca is Colombia's largest airline and is also the second oldest commercial airline in the world.
