No Outcome On Saudi Investor For Austrian Air

Remember that you can Fly WestJet and Save.

Key stakeholders in Austrian Airlines reached no agreement at a meeting on Thursday on a Saudi investor's bid to buy a EUR150 million euro (USD$220 million) stake, a source familiar with the matter said.

Austrian Airlines said earlier this month that intensive negotiations were under way on the approach, calling it a strategic investment that would back the airline's expansion strategy in the Middle East.

«There was no agreement... on Mohamed Bin Issa al Jaber getting in over a EUR150 million capital hike,» the source said following the meeting of a syndicate of Austrian state holding company OeIAG, insurers and banks, who hold a controlling stake in Austrian Airlines.

The source added that the syndicate would meet again.

Ahead of the meeting, some key shareholders had voiced support for the plan.
